Ouray Colorado Wedding and the Beaumont Hotel & Spa

Writer's picture: Andrea HawkinsAndrea Hawkins

The beautiful Beaumont Hotel hosted James and Amanda in their fall wedding that captured the elegance and charm of this historic building. I'm a Coloradan through and through and I have spent many vacation times in Ouray both as a child and an adult. And this was the first time I had ever set foot in this beautiful hotel.

I was greeted by an impressive staircase and immediately knew that this would be a focal spot for the bridal party photos. The more I explored the hotel, the more I understood why James and Amanda chose it. Their point of view is very on point with dark and moody romantic vibes that I was so excited to capture, both in the photos and in the wedding film.

Being a wedding photographer and videographer requires a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of capturing the essence of a couple's special day. It's about creating timeless memories cherished for a lifetime, focusing on unique focal points and picturesque settings. Each wedding is a unique story told through my camera lens, capturing every detail from the bride's dress to the groom's emotions. By framing subjects to highlight their best features and emotions, I aim to create nostalgic art that preserves the magic of a couple's important day.

I broke out my very wide angle lens to get this shot of the entire beautiful front entrance. As you can see, it is just impressive. Although I don't always use my 17-40 mm, when I do, it's for epic shots like this. Haha.

But in all seriousness, this shot is only possible because I carry a very wide-angle lens. I loved how every staircase photo turned out. This ended up looking like an elegant old-time movie.

This hotel also features an ornately decorated presidential suite where the bride got ready for her big day. This room was so large and comfortable. If you want amazing getting ready photos, you have to think about the room. I can squeeze into any room and get pretty photos, but when you have a room like this, it makes the getting ready photos effortlessly classic.

The wedding ceremony took place out on the patio, and the patio was private, very pretty, and just set the tone for the whole day. We took so many portraits of family and friends before the ceremony and did a stunning first look. The weather was amazing for an early October afternoon, and I am so glad!

To finish the evening, we headed to the reception hall which fit the aesthetic to perfection. Its tall windows and ceiling created an epic feeling that matched the entire vibe of the whole wedding. It was dark and romantic, so I used two flashes to light up my subjects a bit. There was plenty of room for all the guests to eat at long lavish tables and also a large dance floor. The first dances were beautiful, and this room was just the icing on the cake!

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Photographer

Choosing a wedding photographer is a crucial decision as they play a significant role in capturing the essence and memories of your special day. It's understandable that the process can be daunting, given the multitude of options available. As someone with seven years of experience in the wedding industry, I understand the importance of finding a photographer you can trust to document your wedding day perfectly.

Having witnessed a wide array of weddings and scenarios over the years, I have honed my skills to adapt to any situation seamlessly. My goal is to make your wedding day all about you, ensuring that every moment is captured with precision and care. I believe in building a connection with my clients to understand their vision and preferences, enabling me to deliver photographs that truly reflect their unique love story.
